Frequently Asked Questions
-
Individually adapted yoga means the practice is shaped to suit you, your body, your history, your energy on any given day. Rather than asking you to fit the pose, the pose is adjusted to fit you. This approach comes from the Krishnamacharya tradition, where yoga has always been taught person by person, not class by class.
-
No experience is needed. Kara's classes are suitable for complete beginners and for people returning to yoga after a break. The pace is unhurried and you will never be pushed beyond what feels right for your body on that day.
-
Group classes take place at Nova Wellness Clinic, Elliot's Courtyard, 33B High Street, Lyndhurst, Hampshire — in the heart of the New Forest. Kara also serves the wider Waterside and Southampton area.
-
Monday group classes are £10 for a drop-in session, or £45 for a five-class pass. One-to-one sessions are £60. Workshops are priced individually. Current dates and prices are on the Workshops page.

A group class is a good way to find your feet in a calm, welcoming setting. A one-to-one gives you dedicated time with Kara to work on something specific, whether that is an injury, a health condition, menopause, stress, or simply a wish to practise in a more personalised way. Either is a perfectly good place to start.
-
Yes — this is exactly where individually adapted yoga is most useful. Kara works carefully with people managing injury, chronic pain, joint hypermobility, menopause and other physical changes. She will never ask your body to do something it is not ready for. If you are unsure whether yoga is right for your situation, get in touch before booking.
-
Yes. Many of Kara's students come to her specifically because of the changes menopause brings — to sleep, to energy, to the way the body feels and moves. Yoga can help regulate the nervous system, support joint health and build a steadier relationship with your body during this time.
-
Yes. Kara is a member of the British Wheel of Yoga, the UK's leading professional body for yoga teachers. Her teaching is rooted in the Krishnamacharya / TKV Desikachar lineage, one of the most respected and widely taught traditions in yoga.
-
Trauma-aware yoga means that Kara is conscious of the way the nervous system holds stress and past experience in the body. Classes and sessions are paced accordingly to choice, space and with no pressure to perform. It is not yoga therapy, but it is yoga taught with care and sensitivity.
